SeaWorld to Open Catapult Falls, The World’s First Launched Flume Coaster, on March 2nd

There’s “So Much More to Sea” at SeaWorld this year as the park celebrates its 60th anniversary with new attractions, presentations and shows, plus exclusive Pass Member previews and special ticket and experience offers

SeaWorld San Antonio announced today that March 2nd will be the opening date for Catapult Falls. The highly anticipated thrill ride is the world’s first launched flume coaster and features the steepest drop in any flume ride. It also has the unique distinction of being the only flume ride in North America to feature a vertical lift. Guests visiting on March 2nd, the first day of Spring Break, will be treated to a Grand Opening Ceremony to officially open the ride, and the first 500 riders will receive a special Catapult Falls themed silicone pint glasses to commemorate the occasion. SeaWorld Pass Members have the benefit of an exclusive early preview of this new thrilling family attraction before its grand opening (exact dates to be determined soon).

With 11 boats each seating eight passengers, Catapult Falls will navigate through quite the adventure as guests feel the rush of riding on a coaster, while still enjoying the rocking and swaying of riding a boat on the water. Catapult Falls features North America’s only vertical lift that uses a state-of-the-art elevator to lift riders up seven feet per second to reach the top. Once at the peak, riders will be in for a thrill as they drop from a height of over 55 feet. Angled at a staggering 53 degrees - the steepest drop in the world for this type of ride - the elevator chutes riders into a watery splashdown at over 37 miles per hour, creating the ultimate splash that drenches the observing crowd below.

Started in 1964 in San Diego, SeaWorld now has parks in Texas and Orlando, and is known worldwide for its animal care and rescue efforts, as well as for its thrilling rides and fun yearly events. As SeaWorld celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, there’s truly “So Much More to Sea,” including new rides and attractions, a new character parade, all-new presentations and shows, limited-edition food and beverage options and collectible merchandise, plus special ticket and experience offers.

The best way for guests to experience Catapult Falls at SeaWorld is with a SeaWorld Season or Annual Pass. That’s unlimited visits to both SeaWorld and Aquatica with special benefits like exclusive access to new events and attractions, FREE parking, FREE guest tickets, access to special VIP events, savings on merchandise and more!
