Shamu & Friends Return to SeaWorld San Antonio for 60th Anniversary

SAN ANTONIO, Tx., (May 23, 2024) – This summer there is “So Much More to Sea” at SeaWorld San Antonio, now open daily, with all-new rides and attractions, all-new animal presentations and habitats, all-new shows, parades and interactive celebrations, plus the return of Shamu and Crew. Guests are invited to come explore and engage in the excitement of new summer experiences and the exhilarating entertainment of the Summer Spectacular. The best way to enjoy the park is by becoming a Pass Member and receiving unlimited visits and unbeatable benefits to the park all year long.

Check out all that’s new this summer at SeaWorld San Antonio:

ALL-NEW Catapult Falls – Debuting earlier this year, this family adventure ride is the world’s first launched flume coaster featuring the world’s steepest drop and North America’s only vertical lift on a flume ride. Eleven boats, each with eight riders, catapult through a high-speed launch at speeds of 30 feet per second, allowing riders to feel the rush of a coaster while experiencing the rocking and swaying sensation of rafting down river rapids. Once the vertical lift has reached its peak, guests will plummet down the world’s steepest drop in a flume attraction, angled at a staggering 53 degrees, where the drop sends riders into a watery splashdown at over 37 miles per hour, soaking bystanders below.

ALL-NEW “So Much More to Sea” 60th Anniversary Parade Featuring Shamu and Crew – Celebrate SeaWorld’s 60th anniversary with a fun-filled parade featuring specially designed floats, the much-anticipated return of Shamu and Crew, and festive bubbles filling the air and adding to the celebrations. The parade follows a new route and features a performance in front of Orca Stadium that will have the entire family on their feet singing and dancing with the beloved characters.

ALL-NEW Cirque Show, “Splash: A Sandsational Cirque Celebration” – Reminiscent of the 60s beach blanket movies, this amazing cirque-style show features multiple mesmerizing acrobatic acts including hoop tumbling, energetic dance, Spanish web, balancing acts, and a Wheel of Destiny that will have the audience on the edge of their seats. Inside Nautilus Amphitheater, this exciting performance is set on a fictitious beach along a boardwalk, and if they don’t watch out the audience might catch a wave or two!

ALL-NEW Party Zone, Bubble Bash – This addition to the 60th celebrations occurs daily from 12PM to 4 PM and features a DJ, party starters, dancing, and of course, BUBBLES! It’s the ultimate party zone.

ALL-NEW “SeaWorld’s 60th Fireworks Spectacular” – Guests can cap off the night with a new vibrant fireworks show that will be a walk down memory lane with recognizable music from previous popular SeaWorld shows like the One Ocean and Azul.

ALL-NEW Sea Lion Presentation, “Flippers, Facts, and Fun: A Sea Lion Experience” – This brand-new production makes its debut this summer and is bound to get guests even more excited about sea lions. The presentation will allow guests to see and discover more about these fascinating animals as they learn about the sea lions' adaptations, athletic ability, and natural behaviors.

ALL-NEW Tortoise Habitat, Aldabra Island – The recently added 5,000 square-foot exhibit is home to the second largest tortoise species and the longest-living animal on the planet, the Aldabra tortoise. The new habitat provides an opportunity for guests to get up close and personal with the gentle giants during an Aldabra Tortoise Tour. The 20-minute guided tour takes participants inside the new habitat to meet the tortoises up close. The guests participating in the tour can interact and feed them, help prepare enrichment items, and learn about the tortoise’s natural history. This encounter with Aldabra tortoises will be an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impression on guests of all ages.

ALL-NEW “Unwind and Rewind” Throwback Museum – In honor of the 60th celebration, SeaWorld San Antonio has created a lounge for guests to cool off, grab a refreshing beverage and reminisce over special artifacts from years past. Retired costumes and wetsuits, set pieces from popular shows, limited time memorabilia, and exciting photos shared by guests on social media will be featured throughout this one-of-a-kind museum and are bound to bring back special memories.

ImaginOcean, SeaWorld San Antonio

Award-Winning Waterski Stunt Show, Hydropower: Xtreme FX - Winner of the IAAPA Brass Rings Award for Most Creative Sports/Stunt Show, Hydropower: Xtreme FX is back and better than ever. The unique waterski show includes breathtaking stunts, a live cover band, glittering pyrotechnics, laser lights, and special effects that will keep guests on the edge of their seats.

Glow-in-the-Dark Puppet Show, ImaginOcean - SeaWorld dims the lights in its Sea Star Theatre and features a glow-in-the-dark puppet show musical, ImaginOcean. The theatrical performance is packed with a fun musical score, amazing puppetry, and dazzling neon colors. Created by Broadway sensation John Tartaglia with a musical score by William Wade, this one-of-a-kind show is a must-see as the story teaches the audience valuable lessons about friendship, kindness, and the power of imagination. Contrary to the typical puppet show, ImaginOcean is performed completely in the dark with puppeteers that remain concealed in black clothing from head-to-toe camouflaged from the audience while black lights illuminate only the puppets.
