SeaWorld San Antonio celebrates 25 years of heart-pounding excitement on the Steel Eel on July 25. In honor of the roller coaster’s 25th anniversary, guests are challenged to ride the Steel Eel 25 times in one day, and those who do will receive an exclusive commemorative t-shirt. All guests will also be treated to delicious cookies, 60th Anniversary cooling towels, and an exciting atmosphere as ambassadors cheer on participants completing the ride challenge. This hypercoaster, renowned for its breathtaking drops and exhilarating airtime, has welcomed thousands of visitors since its original debut in 1999.

Since its original debut in 1999, the Steel Eel has been an iconic coaster, and standing at 15 stories tall it is a recognizable SeaWorld landmark that can be seen from miles away. At its grand opening, the Steel Eel paved the way for roller coasters of its kind, as it was the first ever hypercoaster in Texas and the Southwest. The coaster has a peak height of 150 feet and reaches speeds of 65 miles per hour with guests slithering up and down its “camelback humps” giving riders several moments of weightlessness.

For those wanting to partake in the Steel Eel ride challenge and join in on the coaster’s anniversary celebration, the park will be open at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 25th and riders will be able to ride the Steel Eel until the park closes at 9 PM. Best way to enjoy the park is with a Season or Annual Pass. For a limited time, guests can take advantage of the Summer Sale and get up to 20% off Passes. Information at www.SeaworldSanAntonio.com.
