Six Flags Over Texas invited us out for a sneak preview of their 2024 Fright Fest event with new haunted houses, specialty food and the return of live entertainment. Taking place select dates from September 13 to November 3, this year's Fright Fest features haunt versions of well-known horror brands, including Stranger Things, SAW, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Conjuring. Guests can also venture through four scare zones and experience the return of live shows, such as Dr. H.H. Holmes' Freak Show inside Southern Palace.

The merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair took place just over two months ago and we've seen lots of changes so far, including Cedar Fair management taking over operations, updated season pass structures and new job postings for high-level positions at select parks. After visiting most Cedar Fair legacy parks over the last five years, it is clear that many crucial improvements can come to Six Flags Over Texas without the investment of multi-million dollar rides and attractions. Heres's our wish list of the top three changes we'd like to see implemented to the park.

Fright Fest 2024 begins at Six Flags Over Texas in just under two weeks. Taking place on select evenings between September 13 and November 3, Fright Fest is a Halloween-themed event, featuring haunted houses, live entertainment, scare zones and spooky decor. New for 2024 is a slate of several popular haunted house themes, including Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Stranger Things and SAW. Hurricane Harbor Arlington, the largest water park in North Texas, is thrilled to announce its largest investment in park history with the debut of Splash Island and a variety of new guest amenities set for 2025. This expansion introduces a vibrant coastal-themed area featuring colorful slides and a multi-level interactive play structure, perfect for young guests.

About one month remains until the start of Fright Fest 2024 at Six Flags Over Texas and, based on the line-up, it is shaping up to be the largest ever. Beginning on Friday, September 13, thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts are invited to immerse themselves in the pulse-pounding excitement and terror that only Fright Fest can deliver. Visitors to the park will step into a world where nightmarish creatures inspired by legendary horror brands come to life with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ SAW franchise, Netflix’s Stranger Things, Warner Bros. Discovery’s The Conjuring, Legendary Entertainment’s Trick ‘r Treat, and Netflix & Legendary Entertainment’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Earlier this month, Six Flags Over Texas unveiled their new Bugs Bunny Boomtown attractions, which are Sylvester & Tweety Pounce and Bounce and the returning Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters. Fright Fest is just over two months away and we've been able to confirm an entertainment offering and discuss the haunted house teasers that have been released. Dino Off Road Adventure, new for 2024 at Six Flags Over Texas, is the park's reimagining of the Chaparral Antique Cars. Featuring fifteen dinosaur animatronics, riders jump into the four-person vehicle and drive along 1,470 feet of track. Dino Off Road Adventure's new vehicles were designed closely alongside blueprints from original Arrow antique cars.

Coasting for Kids, a Give Kids The World Village fundraiser, is held at several parks across the country during the summer. Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced that Dino Off Road Adventure will open to the public on June 15, 2024 following an exclusive preview for season pass holders. The new ride is a retheming of the Chaparral Antique Cars, which originally debuted at the park in 1962, and promises guests an exciting new take on a beloved classic.

Six Flags Over Texas and its sister park Six Flags New England, located in Agawam, Massachusetts, have set a friendly wager for the upcoming NBA Finals series kicking off on Thursday, June 6. Six Flags Over Texas will, of course, be cheering on their beloved Mavericks, while Six Flags New England supports the Boston Celtics.

Six Flags Over Texas has begun their summertime operations, opening daily until they close on Tuesdays beginning later in the month. Summer at the park looks a little different with a lack of events and no entertainment offerings during weekdays. Food prices, along with a surcharge, continue to increase while quality suffers.

In 2024, Hurricane Harbor Arlington celebrates its 40th anniversary. Originally a Wet 'n Wild water park, Six Flags purchased the property in 1995. Today, Hurricane Harbor features over twenty water slides and attractions, which span from kid-friendly to the ultimate thrill. New for 2024 at Six Flags Over Texas is the Dino Off Road Adventure. Taking over the existing track of the Chaparral Antique Cars attraction, the new ride will feature several dinosaur animatronics throughout its layout. Construction is quickly under way on the new ride, along with the two new children's attractions set to open in Bugs Bunny Boomtown.

Six Flags Over Texas celebrates ¡Viva la Fiesta! now through May 5 with live entertainment, park decor and a special overlay on the Casa Magnetica crooked house. Before our visit, Six Flags Over Texas was hit with flood waters due to a major storm that came through the area, leaving sections and rides closed. Construction has also progressed on the two children's attractions coming to Bugs Bunny Boomtown.

April 8, 2024 saw Six Flags Over Texas become a unique place to catch the total solar eclipse with rides, viewing areas and a fireworks display. The park is also continuing construction on their two new children's attractions: Sylvester & Tweety Pounce and Bounce and Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters. Six Flags Over Texas is also working on other projects as well, including EV chargers in the parking lot.

Scream Break returns to Six Flags Over Texas from March 9 to 16, this time with a completely new theme. Attendees can experience the return of Casa Magnetica as the Lōkahi Welcome Center, the all-new Curse of the Polynesian Palm haunted house, multiple live entertainment offerings, specialty characters and a wide selection of adult beverages from themed bars. ix Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced the park’s lineup of thrilling spring events, featuring live performances by local musicians, a vintage-inspired haunt, a rare total solar eclipse, a major milestone for a classic ride, and a celebration of Latin American culture.

Big Bend, a Schwarzkopf Speed Racer roller coaster, called Six Flags Over Texas home from 1971 to 1979. When it opened, it was the park's tallest and fastest roller coaster. Big Bend reached a top speed of 52 miles per hour, climbed up to 81 feet tall and featured 2,876 feet of track.
