Ride Spotlight - Oil Derrick at Six Flags Over Texas
Built by Intamin, Oil Derrick opened to guests at Six Flags Over Texas on May 24, 1969. This observation tower gives a great calming view of the park and surrounding areas from two observation decks at 255 feet and 267 feet. Between 1969 and 1975, Oil Derrick even featured a 12-lane slide attractions from its 47-foot tall first level. Standing 300 feet tall, Oil Derrick remains an iconic staple to the skyline of Six Flags Over Texas.
Baked Cookies at Miss Abby's - Six Flags Over Texas Dining Pass Food Review
Miss Abby's is an indoor restaurant located in the Texas park section at Six Flags Over Texas. The location features baked cookies, fresh brownies, soft serve, soft drink refills and more. The dining option also supports mobile ordering on the Six Flags app. Though only limited indoor seating is available, covered outdoor seating can be found nearby behind Texas Taco Bar.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas Decade in Review | 2000 - 2009
Six Flags Fiesta Texas heads into their second decade of operation in the 2000s with the addition of the record-breaking Superman Krypton Coaster. Other large additions to Fiesta Texas during this decade include multiple water slide attractions, Tony Hawk's Big Spin and Goliath. Live entertainment was a staple of the park during the 2000s as they'd produce over a dozen shows each season and take home Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Award for "Best Theme Park Shows" on numerous occasions.
Six Flags Over Texas Begins Hallowfest 2020 Preparations
We visit Six Flags Over Texas as they begin preparations for their all-new Hallowfest 2020 event, which is a modified Halloween celebration intended to better follow current safety guidelines. Though spooky decor and cobwebs have begun to take over the park, no sign of the four planned scare zones is evident. We also check out other changes that have happened inside the park since our last visit.
Texas Toast Chicken Strip Sandwich at Ma Hunkel's - Six Flags Over Texas Dining Pass Food Review
Introduced in 2018, Ma Hunkel's Famous Chicken is an outdoor restaurant in Six Flags Over Texas' Gotham City section. Menu items include Texas toast chicken strip sandwiches, bone-in wings, corn dogs, potato wedges and more. Mobile ordering, Dining Pass offerings and an outdoor shaded eating area are just a few of the dining location's primary features.
Ride Spotlight - Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas
Opened April 22, 1978, Shock Wave is a classic Schwarzkopf steel roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas. Standing 116 feet tall and reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour, Shock Wave was the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world when opened. The attraction also features back-to-back loops with a staggering 5.9 Gs. Shock Wave also features plenty of air time moments.

Six Flags Over Texas saw massive expansions throughout the 1990s. Roller coasters like Mr. Freeze and Batman: The Ride, along with the addition of the Gotham City park area, highlight this decade.
