ix Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced the park’s lineup of thrilling spring events, featuring live performances by local musicians, a vintage-inspired haunt, a rare total solar eclipse, a major milestone for a classic ride, and a celebration of Latin American culture.

What is now known as the San Antonio Zoo officially began in 1914. Over its 100 years, the 57-acre zoo has grown to feature 750 species of animals and over a million annual visitors. The San Antonio Zoo is involved with the protection and breeding of many endangered species, including the black rhino, the golden lion tamarin and the dama gazelle. Today, guests can experience and learn about over 3,500 animals during their visit.

Catapult Falls at SeaWorld San Antonio is a first-of-its-kind log flume attraction. The ride features eleven boats, holding eight riders each. After meandering through calm waters, Catapult Falls launches riders at speeds of 30 feet per second through the first splashdown. Soon enough, the attraction travels up a unique elevator lift and down a 53-degree drop, the steepest of any log flume.

Big Bend, a Schwarzkopf Speed Racer roller coaster, called Six Flags Over Texas home from 1971 to 1979. When it opened, it was the park's tallest and fastest roller coaster. Big Bend reached a top speed of 52 miles per hour, climbed up to 81 feet tall and featured 2,876 feet of track. Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced new park enhancements for the 2024 season. One new ride, Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce, and one returning ride, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters, will be coming to the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park Memorial Day weekend. A retheming of the classic Chaparral Antique Cars into Dino Off Road Adventure will follow later in the summer.

SeaWorld San Antonio announced today that March 2nd will be the opening date for Catapult Falls. The highly anticipated thrill ride is the world’s first launched flume coaster and features the steepest drop in any flume ride. It also has the unique distinction of being the only flume ride in North America to feature a vertical lift.

Fiesta Texas is hard at work on the transformation of preexisting rides for their new DC Universe area. Crews are transforming SkyScreamer, Streamliner Coaster and Rambling Road with fresh paint and themed pieces. Six Flags Over Texas recently filed a project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that includes $2 million worth of upgrades for their Bugs Bunny Boomtown area. The scope of work described is for new paving and foundations for two new rides in the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park.

SeaWorld San Antonio is letting the good times roll as Mardi Gras returns to the park starting this Saturday, January 13 and running through February 25. SeaWorld’s Mardi Gras celebration transforms Texas’ biggest and best theme park into a jazzed-up, New Orleans-style atmosphere complete with live music, festive characters, and a Mardi Gras-inspired menu featuring both all-new and returning Cajun and Creole food favorites.
